Consultations on setting up a tertiary institution in Ghana

  • Hafy Accredit Institute will provide information to persons interested in setting up tertiary education on the type of institution they can set up depending on the programme they wish to run;
  • Direct prospective clients on the best type of accreditation to apply for. This is important because the type of accreditation will determine the financial projections the client will have to make;
  • The location or site, including the property, suitable for the type of institution;
  • The minimum requirements / standards involved in the preferred type;
  • The requisite staff and infrastructure needed;
  • The possible duration of the whole process.

Legal Services

  • Vet legal documentations for accreditation related matters;
  • Draft Statutes and policies such as Students and Staff Handbook for client;
  • Draft contracts for engaging services of all category of staff;
  • Draft Affiliation, Collaborative agreements and Memorandum of Understanding for accreditation and quality assurance purposes;
  • Review of all forms of agreements for the client;
  • Conduct due diligence of land documents;
  • Provide general legal advice in relation to accreditation and related issues.

Institutional Accreditation

This process of accreditation involves the next step after a certificate of authorization has been granted. Services that can be provided:

  • Hafy Accredit Institute will input information required for accreditation after client provide the required information;
  • Vet the institutional accreditation questionnaire;
  • Liaise with required organizations and departments to obtain relevant documentations necessary for the application;
  • Liaise with experts of the Accreditation Board to undertake and complete their assessments for submission to the accrediting body.

Programme Accreditation

  • Develop or design the curriculum of the programme(s) the client seeks to run;
  • Vet curriculum already developed by the client;
  • Help client to assemble the required teaching and technical or administrative staff to run proposed programme(s);
  • Liaise with persons involved to ensure expert reports are submitted to the National Accreditation Board;
  • Follow up on the application process until grant of programme accreditation.

Merger and Acquisitions

  • Hafy Accredit Institute will help prospective clients in acquisition of existing institution or its facilities for the purpose of running tertiary institution itself;
  • In cases where prospective client or already existing institution wishes to enter into a merger, Hafy Accredit Institute will facilitate the process;
  • The Institute will conduct due diligence on all accreditation related issues for smooth transactions.

Institutional Authorization

This is the first step in obtaining accreditation in Ghana. The authorization is a must for all who wishes to set up a tertiary education institution in Ghana and it is important that a client knows how to go about it.

  • Hafy Accredit Institute shall apply for institutional authorization for the client and conduct follow up until the authorization is granted.
  • The Institute can recommend members of the Preparatory Committee which is a Committee required for institutional authorization or if the client so wish Accredit Consult will be the Preparatory Committee for the client.

Application and Processing

  • Hafy Accredit Institute if the client so wish, can fill in the application form with information provided to it.
  • Follow up on the accreditation process for the client.

Vetting of Application Documents

  • The company also will vet application documents and any other document being submitted for accreditation.
  • Where the client allows, Accredit Consult will effect the necessary changes to the documents.

Institutional Re-accreditation / Cyclical Review / Academic Audit

  • Help client put together documentation and information for the panel visit;
  • Conduct preparatory meeting with necessary staff of the institution;
  • Vet all documents to be put together.

Human Resource Services

  • Give advice on the qualifications of the Principal. Key, Teaching, Technical and Administrative staff to be recruited by the client;
  • Vet applications of all staff to be recruited;
  • Conduct interviews or assessment for staff to be recruited;
  • Where desired, client can request that Hafy Accredit Institute be members of panel for recruiting staff;
  • Provide general services which are HR related to the client.

Re-accreditation

  • Prompt institutions a year to the end of expiration of the grant of institutional and programme accreditation;
  • Ensure that client has all the necessary documents and information ready for re-accreditation process;
  • Conduct a preparatory meeting with necessary officials of the institution for the re-accreditation process.

Training Services

  • Hafy Accredit Institute will run short courses on accreditation and quality assurance matters;
  • Human Resource Training;
  • Training workshops on business law, accreditation, quality assurance and any related issues.
